About Me

"The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not 'Eureka!' but 'That's funny...'"

Isaac Asimov

I happen to agree with Mr. Asimov that science isn't about huge lightning bolts of understanding, but instead small increments of "That's kind of cool!".  As a former researcher in immunology, I learned that science is about patience, wandering down the wrong paths, and admitting confusion --- but it's also about excitement and creativity.  This year, I hope to guide you, my students, along your voyage through chemistry and bring some of that excitement and creativity to class.  Not only will we learn the basics of atoms and matter, but we'll bring our passions (some of mine are gardening, running, hiking, and beekeeping) to class and see how chemistry can be involved in them.  It's a pleasure to be your teacher, and I look forward to meeting each of you!
